Carol Ann Hamilton, passed away May 9, 2006, at the age of 55.

She was known as a sweetheart, a gracious giver, a courageous mother and a wonderful friend to many. After falling in love with the Rocky Mountains in her college years, she moved to the Roaring Fork Valley from her hometown in Maryland. She worked as a nurse at the Aspen Valley Hospital and the Mid-Valley Clinic for the past 25 years.

She was married to Jonathan Kurz from 1983-1991.

Carol will always be remembered for her inner strength, which she carried and passed on to all that knew her.

Carol is survived by daughters Amanda and Sara Kurz; her mother, Laura Hamilton; and brother Phil Hamilton, both from Bethesda, Md.; longtime boyfriend, Richard Blanchard, and his two children, Rick and Heather Blanchard. Upon her request, she was cremated and her ashes will be dispersed among several of her favorite places.

There will be a memorial service at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Basalt Community United Methodist Church, 0167 Holland Hills Road, Basalt. A reception will follow at the church.
