In Memory

Karin Fuller (Capanna)

Kathy Fuller (sister) writes

Karin died on March 28, 1990, in an automobile crash outside Philadelphia, where she lived.  I will see if there's a link to the obituary that appeared in the Inquirer.

I remember Karin from junior high at Pyle and at Whitman. Karen was a lovely girl and inquisitive. She was also very pretty, but seemed to be unaware of it. She was a member of the National Honor Society.

May she rest in peace.

How very sad. I remember Karin from elementary school. We were in Brownies together and later, in high school, I walked home by her house every day. She was a beautiful and talented girl.

Karin and I met immediately after I moved to the Radnor district at age 9. We were glued together instantly and for so many years after that. We walked to and from school (Radnor, Pyle and Whitman) each day for years. Karin and I shared dreams, boyfriends (those were the days), a love for a '57 Thunderbird in the neighborhood and so much more. I felt like a part of me was ripped away when my father called me and said sit down. I knew something awful had happened but one never thinks it will be a friend you shared so much with for so long. Her birthday is October 17th. Not one goes by that I don't think of her. It was wonderful to know her and have her as my confidant and best friend. And, you're right, she never knew how pretty she was. She was a very gifted musician, playing the piano and then switching to the harp. She left a wonderful legacy through her children, her art and a scholarship named for her at the music academy where she taught.

When Barry Sirkis and I moved from Shepherd Park DC to Bethesda at the beginning of 7th grade, we asked to be kept together and were placed in Section 7-9 at Pyle. Karin Fuller and Lyn Fisher were the first friends we made. Lyn and I are still friends but I know she'd agree that Karin was the sweeter of the two! I wish she were still with us.
