Joanie was never one to grab the spotlight and likely slipped by many of you through the years. But to know her was to be treated to the her iridescent smile and infectious laugh, to bask for a while in her genuine acceptance of human foibles, and to enjoy a mischievous turn now and then. We were best friends through junior high and wove in and out of each other's life thereafter. She was a very special lady who bore the ravages of a long and cruel illness with grace and humor. I miss her every day.

Joan was a friend at Pyle and Whitman. I visited Joan and her husband, Steve, in 1972 in Boston, and I later got together with her many times in the Los Angeles area when we both lived there.

Joan was a truly nice person. She was unassuming and was too modest about her considerable artistic talent. Though she was quiet in large groups, she commented insightfully on a wide range of topics in small groups and one-to-one conversations.

Joan was a compassionate and wonderful person, and I miss her.

Here’s a picture of Joan Kreimann Ecclesine with her son Patrick.  In a testament to her appeal, I am one of at least three people who considered themselves her best friend!  Joanie was quietly brilliant, without pretension, witty and kind.  I was friends with her from fifth grade on.  Anyone who knew her will miss her.
